The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation has issued a second call for proposals to improve quality of care for people with chronic conditions. Due May 17, 2007, the proposals should try to find ways to eliminate disparities in care experienced by racial and ethnic minorities, the foundation said in a March 23 statement. The $6 million research initiative is expected to feature 25 to 30 awards over the course of three calls for proposals addressing chronic diseases where racial and ethnic disparities are strong and standards for care are clear: treatment of cardiovascular disease, depression, and diabetes. The foundation said the latest call encourages proposals that evaluate provider performance incentives and nursing-focused interventions for six to eight grants ranging from $100,000 to $275,000. Eleven awards were made in December 2006, with details of recipients featured at www.SolvingDisparities.org, the foundation said.
